Kindergarten Teachers

I have a sassy new kindergartener named Joanna who loves to dance, read, sing, and RUN. My husband Vini is a banjo enthusiast, composer, adjunct professor at UofL, and the Director of Music Ministries at Highland Presbyterian Church. I myself am an avid gardener, singer, and amatur ukulele player. As an educator, I have fourteen years of experience in both general ed and the music classroom. I have a strong passion for learning through movement and cross curriculum instruction. In our room, we strive to make our classroom exciting, engaging, and loving.

Hello! My name is Sharon Davis and I am a Kindergarten Instructional Assistant here at Norton Elementary. I have lived in Louisville my entire life and graduated from the University of Louisville with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. I am the proud mom of my daughter, Amanda, who also graduated from the University of Louisville and currently teaches English in France. I am known the "crazy cat lady" as I have 5 cats. In my spare time I like to swim, crochet and watch old tv shows.

This is my 32nd year of teaching for JCPS and my sixteenth year at Norton!  While eight of those years were spent in first grade, the remaining 24 years have been spent teaching kindergarten, so you can say I’m very partial to the “littles”!  I love seeing the enthusiasm and growth during their first year of learning!

I live in Floyds Knobs, Indiana with my daughter Belle, who is a high school senior this year!  I also have a grown son who has blessed me with two adorable grandbabies, as well as a daughter that also teaches for JCPS.  In my spare time, I love to hang out with my nineteen chickens and little dog Miley!

This is my 10th year on staff at Norton Elementary. I am proud to say that both of my kids are Norton alumni. My favorite part of helping in Kindergarten is watching the kids learn to read while they are with us and seeing that growth! I received my Bachelor of Science in Business Management and after being in the banking world for several years, I decided to make the switch to education and I am so glad that I did. I have been married to my husband for 26 years. We have a daughter that is a graduate of the University of Kentucky and a son that is a sophomore at Asbury University. We also have a spoiled dog named Lainie that is helping us with our empty nest! I am so happy to be a part of the Norton Community!

I am excited to be at Norton Elementary! I have been a teacher in JCPS for over ten years and enjoy my time as an educator. I received my Bachelors degree from Northern Kentucky University and my Masters in Education from Spalding University. I love to spend time with my husband and two children. We also have two chocolate labs, Lexi and Nola. We love to be outside and can most likely find us at a pool or ball field. We love to go to the beach, play at a park, or have a fun game night. I love to watch football (Go Cards, Go IRISH!) Fall is my favorite season. Go Cougars!

Hello, my name is Mrs. Rand. I am Mrs. James’ assistant. This is my 30th year working for JCPS and my 12th in kindergarten. My husband and I have 3 grown children and one grandson. In my free time I enjoy reading and birdwatching.

This is my 18th year of teaching. I have been in kindergarten for 12 of those years! I feel kindergarten is the best grade to teach because you see so much growth in each child. They love learning and the students always put a smile on my face. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Spalding University along with a Master’s degree and Rank 1 in Elementary Ed/Technology from Indiana University Southeast.

My husband and I have 3 energetic and sweet boys! They all go to school here at Norton. I love spending time with my family, going to the lake, pool, amusement parks, and cheering on my boys at their soccer, basketball, or baseball games. I am grateful to be a part of the Norton community! I truly believe it is the best school out there!

My name is Megan Slyter and I am Mrs. Seibert's instructional assistant. This is my 16th year working in the Kindergarten "big room". Both of my children attended Norton prior to that so I've been around this school for about 20 years now.

My husband and I are the proud parents of two amazing adult daughters. We also have 3 dogs and a cat that complete our family. In my free time I enjoy walking/hiking with my dogs and traveling.
