Instructional Support

I am delighted to join the Norton team! I began my teaching journey many years ago! I attended Indiana University Southeast for both my Graduate and Master’s Degrees. I started my career at JCPS at Wilt Elementary and spent 17 years teaching 4th grade. After earning my Gifted & Talented Endorsement, I transitioned to the role of GT interventionist. I love teaching and working with kids. My favorite subjects are science and reading. I enjoy reading, hiking, baking, and art. My family enjoys traveling, especially to spots where we can explore and try new things. I have a wonderful husband named Brad. My son, Alex, is a Sophomore at North Oldham and Emma, my daughter, will start 6th grade this year. We have two dogs, Bella & Sophie, who are spoiled rotten.

I am so excited to be beginning my 14th year in education at Norton Elementary! I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Louisville, completed my master’s in Educational Leadership at Cumberlands University, and received my administrative license from Spalding University. I have enjoyed a diverse career in education, but being an Academic Instructional Coach is my ultimate passion. Outside of work, I’m married to my husband Brent, and we have a Golden Retriever named Nugget. I love spending time with my family and friends, reading, and going to the lake. I am excited for a wonderful 2024-2025 school year!

Theresa Cockrum, Assistant/Interventionist

This is my 15th year teaching, and 2nd year as a reading interventionist.  Previously, I was a special education teacher at Norton and in Oldham County.  I am currently taking classes to support reading instruction through Lexia LETRS.  I received my Bachelors in Social Work from Murray State University and my Masters and Rank 1 in Elementary Education and Special Education from Bellarmine University.

I live in Louisville with my husband, two sons, and our dog.  Logan is a 1st grader here at Norton and I couldn't be happier to have him in the same building as me.  Our family loves to travel, spend time at the lake, play games, and sports.  I am looking forward to a great school year!
