Write To Think
This type of writing helps build fluency and also make connections. We write for 2-5 min on a topic and are able to see when our thinking shifts and deepens. This takes place every day multiple times a day.
Write to Practice
This writing allows students to practice specific writing skills in a low risk environment. Students will write to try adding figuartive language or evidence. Then they will share and get feedback and practice again. This takes place several times a week.
On Demand Writing
On demand writing simulates an assessment. Students are given a prompt and a period of time to plan, write, and polish. This type of writing helps me know what skills the students are solidly and independently using. This takes place once a month.
Polished Writing
Polished writing is the very best writing we can do with support and guidance. A polished writing piece is worked on over time in class and share with parents at the end. Students will complete 6-8 polished pieces a year.
