Social Studies

This year, I am handling social studies a little differentlly.  In k-3 grade students do social studies OR science for 45 min a day.  In later years, students will be doing social studies AND science each day.  This is because of the intense focus in primary grades on math and literacy.  This year, I've decided to do an independent social studies quest that students work on when their other work is completed.  Certain assignments will have due dates and be mandatory, but a lot of the quest will be optional and open to students who have time and interest.  The quest will be accessed on our BRAND NEW ENGAGMENT PROGRAM  Edquest.  I'm excited to be a founding member of this amazing new platform!  Through the year we will explore 4 sections of social studies learning that will get kids ready to learn Colorado History in 4th grade.
