What's New Next Year?

CHANGE IN GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS STARTING WITH THE CLASS OF 2024

Starting next year, students must take and pass a personal finance course  to graduate from New Prague High School. This course will be required during senior year. At New Prague High School, one of our goals is for our students to become independent adults with tools to successfully navigate life's challenges. One of the tools students must have in their toolkits is financial literacy. In this course, students will learn the following key components of financial literacy:

This course has been a popular elective course for many years at NPHS. It will now be required for all seniors to graduate. For those seniors who took it as an elective, they have already met the requirement and do not need to register for this course.

Graduation Ceremony - Participation Requirements

Beginning with the Class of 2024, students will be required to earn 47 credits by end of Semester 2 in order to be eligible to participate in the New Prague High School Graduation Ceremony. Please contact your child's counselor if you have questions about your graduation status.

HYBRID CLASSES

We are excited to offer several hybrid courses at NPHS for the 2023-2024 school year. This is a class where time will be split for students to complete their work. Fifty percent of the course will be in person with the teacher and peers. During the other fifity percent of the course, students will have opportunities to complete classroom activities in the classroom, under the direct supervision of a teacher, or in a more flexible environment outside of the classroom, where learning activities are most often posted on Google Classroom.  Students may also be off-campus at this time with parental permission. Assignments completed in a flexible environment may be teacher-directed, teacher-facilitated, or student-directed.  Students are more passively supervised if working in a flexible learning space, or students may not be required to be on campus during that time. Hybrid classes allow students to manage their workflow and pace and to advocate for themselves with the support of their teacher.  Students who fall behind the minimum pacing expectations must attend class in person until they are caught up. Students with have a grade of 70% or less will be required to attend all classes in person. Students who do not maintain minimum pacing requirements may be moved to a traditional in-person learning course or must attend every day.

As a reminder, the course selection process is used to collect data on the number of students interested in each course. At this point we are simply gauging student interest in consideration for offering hybrid courses. There is no guarantee that a course will be offered as hybrid for the 2023-2024 school year.
