Frequently Asked Questions

If I enter my classes on Campus Portal right away, will my choices be granted?

Registration is not first-come, first-served. Many factors come into play (class size, grade level, district budget, etc.) as class

choices are set into a master schedule for the entire school.

Do my four alternate choices really matter? What if I don't list any alternate choices?

Yes! Counselors will use your alternate choices, if needed. Your counselor will choose a replacement class based on what is available.

Can I select which semester I have certain classes or which teacher I have?

No.  The schedule is built based on registration information and drives staffing and creating the schedule.  There is no guarantee that coureses will follow the same schedule or have the same teacher year-to-year.

If I take a study hall, will I still graduate on time?

Students can take one study hall each semester of their high school career and still earn 48 credits. This is one more than the required 47 credits to graduate.

Can I select which semester I have a study hall?

Yes! Course #3000 designates semester one; #4000 designates semester two.

Can seniors move classes around to get senior privileges during specific times?

No.  The master schedule will not accommodate preferences of this nature.

Does it really matter what classes I pick right now?  Can't I just change classes later?

It matters very much what you pick now.  The entire master schedule (which classes run, when they run, the total number of classes and when they are taught) is dependent on student course selecctions.  Any changes later on will be dependent on class size and availability.  Changes later may be limited or impossible.

Do I need to read the Registration Guide and read about every class I might want to take?

Yes! Many common mistakes are avoided by reading the course descriptions for your classes (taking the wrong grade level,

missing a prerequisite, etc.).

What happens if I fail a class?

Talk to your School Counselor for help to select the method that works best for you to retake the class. Options like summer

school, extended day (after school) classes or repeating a class during the regular school day are available.
