Required Courses for Senior Year
Most seniors still need 2 English Language Arts credits: one language arts elective and one composition class:
CIS Composition, Composition or Writing Essentials
Most seniors still have a social studies elective to complete
Personal Finance
2 credits of fine arts courses
It is recommended that seniors still take a math course.
Senior Privilege
This year, seniors will be able to sign up for senior privilege during the registration process. For students wanting 1st-semester senior privilege, they should register for course# 3500A. For students wanting 2nd-semester senior privilege, they should register for course #3500B. Students may only sign up for one senior privilege per semester. Seniors may register for two study halls per semester or one study hall and one senior privilege period.
Once students have signed up for senior privilege, their credits and GPA will be reviewed to ensure they meet the eligibility criteria.
Who is Eligible for Senior Privilege:
Course Description: Senior Privilege is a program for seniors who are on track to graduate and are in good academic and behavioral standing. In order to qualify students must:
Have attained a minimum of 38 credits at the start of their senior year.
Have attained a minimum of 42 credits by the end of their first semester senior year.
Students are required to have 47 total credits to graduate. Seniors applying for senior privilege must be at least one-semester credit ahead (48 credits).
Students who fail a first-semester class will not be eligible for senior privilege second semester.
Students may have no more than one senior privilege period in each semester.
Demonstrate responsibility by maintaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
Maintain a positive attendance record (no more than 7 excused or unexcused absences per semester).
Positive conduct
Seniors who qualify for this are free to leave campus during study hall and/or during lunch. There are some restrictions:
They may not leave campus with underclassmen during either of these times.
Senior Privilege may be revoked if disciplinary, behavioral, academic, or attendance expectations are not met.
An email will be sent to parents of students who have registered for senior privilege.
Seniors will be informed when they have been approved and can then begin to exercise their privileges.
