CNC Router
Carvey
The X-Carve is a CNC Router that has a free software ( Easel ) that lets you easily create a picture, image, text or graphic and then carve that into a piece of material. In this project you will be creating two things: a 6" x 6" tile made of HDPE (High Density PolyEthylene) and a cutting board that is made from scrap pieces of countertop and a liquid Epoxy. This machine has endless possibilities and you are going to get a chance to play with just a couple, more can be found on their project site.
Project 1 - 6" x 6" Mosaic Tile
- Must use the X-Carve and Easel to create your tile
- Must be school appropriate
Project 2 - Create a topographical map of your favorite place
Using Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) Create a contour map of your favorite place. You should have a minimum of 8 contour lines and have each elevation marked on each contour. Along with the lines there should be a way to describe where the place is and which direction is North. Any and all water must be designated by being painted blue.
