Materials pickup at KHS
There are 2 textbooks (History and Literature) for this class. Pick them up in the Gym tomorrow.
Your main task today is to pick-up materials at Kennedy from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. Today's pick-up is for 10th & 11th graders. You need to pick up TWO BOOKS for our Interdisc class. Also, check with your other teachers to find out if you have books or other materials to pick up.
Read this document for more details about the first week of school.
First thing, please Log into the HUB to mark attendance. Then follow the Bell Schedule and attend your first synchronous classes with your teachers. The schedule is shown to the left. Today you will attend Hours 1, 3 and 5 during the times shown in green.

From these Blue and Gold groups, we are going to enter our BASE (small breakout) groups for the first time. Open the Google Meets links page.
Find your name and go to that group's Meet link.
BASE GROUP DIRECTIONS: Introduce yourselves and come up with a rad, cool, wicked, sweet, lit, fun, clever, and school-appropriate TEAM NAME. The person whose name is listed at the bottom on Meets list is the timekeeper and has to usher the base group back to the Blue/Gold group after 10 minutes. The person whose name is listed at the top on the Meets list has to email the TEAM name to drichardson@isd271.org.
When we get back together as a large group, join our FLIPGRID group. Then, do the Record Your Name Assignment. (Say your full name as it appears in Infinite Campus, tell us what you want to be called, and tell us what pronouns you use. See teacher examples.) Finish on your own time if necessary.
Finally, Mr Lyons will answer any questions regarding the PIECES assignment. Just go to the Blue Group Meet link.
PIECES assignment in Google Classroom due Monday.
The KEY IDEA for AP World History is to learn, understand, and interpret different societies throughout recorded history.
The PIECES system is a great way to organize and compare different societies. We will be using this system all year, so it's important that you develop mastery of this system.
Please view this slideshow and familiarize yourself with each theme. Focus on the Guiding Questions - you will need to be able to answer them for all societies we cover!
