The events of Wednesday afternoon on the U.S. Capitol grounds were shocking, even traumatizing. Although we've been teaching for decades, we're somewhat at a loss how to address this insurrection.

We must state that these events cannot and should not be taught with some misbegotten notion of "neutrality". What happened Wednesday afternoon was dreadful, full stop. There is no "both sides" here.
