READING HOMEWORK.
Wordless books will be making their way home in homework packs from tomorrow. A letter to explain how you can use a wordless book will also be in your child's homework pack. Homework packs - complete with reading books- must be taken to school EVERYDAY as children will be using their books in class. Books will be collected in and swapped for a new book on FRIDAY to be redistriubted out to children on a MONDAY. Children will not receive a new book until the previous one has been returned to the school. Please discuss with your child how books from school can be looked after and respected at home.
Phonics sound sheets will also be continuing to go home in jotters - this week you will have the "i" and "n" sound at home.
If you have any questions regarding the homework please let me know at paretns evening appointments on Tuesday/Wednesday. Dates and times of appoitnments went home with children last week in homework packs or for those who did not have homework - they went in the front pockets of school bags.
Loo forward to seeing you all then.
Miss M :)
As part of our Seasons and Celebrations Topic this term we have been learning about Remembrance Day. We learned that this happens every years on the 11th of November and that people wear Poppy's to remember people who fought in the wars. We decided to make our own Poppy's to help us to remember and show our respect to all the soldiers that fought. We are looking forward to displaying them in our classroom.
In maths, we have been practising numbers before and after, counting backwards from 10 and talking about one more and one less than. Check out our super learning below!
We have been learning all about the "t" sound in class last week! Check out our hard working in the snaps below!
We have been learning about our senses in science lessons on a Thursday afternoon. Last week we focused on our sense of touch! We tried feeling around in the mystery box without looking - once with a sock on our hand and once without. We found that it was easier to work out what the items were when we did not have anything on our hands. We did a great job working out what each thing was too!
A big congratulations to Angus who was our firist Nessie Knight of Term 2! Angus received his Nessie Knighthood for fantastic enthusiasm and singing when we have been learning our songs for each new sound. Well done Angus!
HALLOWEEN!

HOMEWORK!
Homework will now be going home on a Monday. Homework will contain activities based on the current phonics sounds we have been learning in class. Last week we introduce our first two sounds: "S" and "a" so this is the sounds you have at home to practise and consolidate this week.
Homework consists of a letter formation sheet for both sounds where children have a line to practise their letter formation and a character to represent the sound to colour in. It also contains the the action for each sound whihc goes along with our jolly phonics song we have been learning in class. Information about how to access and listen to each song can be found in the middle of the homework grid at the start of your jotter.
There is also a phonics homework grid which you can find at the start of your homework jotter. The gird is full of ideas and fun activities you can try at home to help reinforce the learning of each sound. You can try as many or as little of these jobs every week as you like. Remember homework should fit around you and what works for you as a family at home!
PLEASE MAKE SURE HOMEWORK PACKS COME BACK TO SCHOOL EVERYDAY! This is is to get us into a good habit for when reading books go home as we will be using them in class each day.
If you have any questions - please fire me an email or grab me at the door!
Miss Munro :)
Good morning Primary 1.
Firstly, I want to say that we are missing you lots in school and we can't wait to be all back together as soon as we can!
To the left you will see a home learning grid which if you click on - will open as a PDF. There are some activities here that will keep you busy for as long as we are at home this week.
Please only do what works for you! Do as much or as little as you want.
Please keep an eye on the School App for upadtes from Mr C on our situation going forward.
Miss you all lots!
Miss Munro :)
A few things to remember this week!
No Homework is given for week 1 of the new term so homework packs will not go home until next Monday.
We will be starting phonics this term and our homework from next will will reflect the sounds we have been learning in class. We will be learning the s and a sounds this week.
This Friday will be a dress down or dress up for Halloween day - what ever your preference. No Masks are allowed in school.
Well done to everyone for returning our blue homework packs today or at the end of last term. Now we will be doing phonics homework each week, it is important to bring your homework pack to school every day so it is avalible for homework and notes home to be added.
Remember we started a new meun this term. Please take the time to talk through and discuss food options with your child before the start of each school week. Please see a copy of the new menu below!
Miss M :)
Congratulations to Poppy who was our last Nessie Knight of term 1. Poppy was awareded her Nessie Knighthood for having a super attitude to learning and always giving everything a go. She is always kind to everyone in our class and is a super role model to everyone in P1.
SUPER Job Poppy! Keep up that fabulous attitude!
Despite having a short week - in P1 that didn't stop us from packing in lots of learning and fun! We have been learning about subitising in Maths where we have been practising recognising dot patterns up to 10. We have also been hard at work at creating fabulous Christmas cards! Don't worry - we know it's early! We have to get them done early so they can be sent away to be made into Cards, Mugs, Tea Towels etc. Check out our fab photos below. All of these things featuring our fantastic reindeer design will be avalible to order before Christmas - we will keep you posted with details on how to do this.
Remember next week is the final week of term 1 - where has the time gone?!
A reminder that our blue homework packs - which now contain a lovely blue jotter - should come to school every single day. This is so staff have access to pop letters and information home and also gets us into a good routine for reading books - which need to go between home and school every day.
I will collect homework packs in to keep on a Friday so I can set up homework in them ready for Monday.
We are getting very good at remembering to do this so keep it up P1!
Have a lovely weekend when it comes! See you all next week!
Miss Munro :)
A big well done to Rae who has achieved her black belt in kick-boxing! What a fantastic achievement!
Happy Birthday to Ruth, Rosie and Fletcher who all had birthdays this month and have turned 5! We hope you all had super birthdays and I loved hearing all about your fantastic parties!
A copy of our P1 Home Learning Grid went home in your child's homework pack today - along with a few print outs. This is to be used over Tuesday-Thursdays strike action days - only if you wish and if this works for your home and child care situation. If you click on the Document attached and choose open in brower this will allow you to view the learning grid and also click on the links we have provided for stories and P.E sessions too.
Reminder - Please make sure your child brings their homework pack into school everyday so staff are able to update anything and pop anything home safely in bags. It is also good practise for when we start sending home reading books - as these need to be used in class daily too. Thank you so much for this.
A big well done to Belle who is our latest Nessie Knight in P1! Belle got her Nessie knight for creating a brillaint story map for the Little Red Hen story and for doing a fantastic job of retelling the story! AMAZING job Belle! Keep up that fabulous hard working attitude!
Our homework for the rest of this term will be focused on rhyme which is a key part of phonological awareness and getting children reading for sounds and reading.
This weeks rhyme was Jack and Jill. Lots of the children have enjoyed sharing their learning of Jack and Jill in class this week which has been lovely to hear.
Your child's homework pack should be in their bag each day for school. This is a good habit to get into as we will require homework packs to be in school each day when we begin phonics and reading.
Our lovely jotters have finally arrived so homework from now on will be stuck inside the jotter so it is easier to keep a hold/track of.
If you have any questions plesae do not hesitate to get in touch.
We had a Karate taster session last week and we loved every second of it! We learned about the importance of respect in Karate and we had a great time practising our new moves!

He was able to encourage others and ensure that everyone got a fair turn at contributing to the poster!
Well Done Harry!
Homework
A small homework sheet came home with children today. Please see the instructions for our independent skills homework on the back of the sheet. This will be an ongoing piece of homework for the remainder of term one and allows you to record and date your childs progress where appropriate. These are all great skills for us to develop to become confident and independent at organsing and looking after ourselves.
Homework packs - complete with a poly pocket folder and a homework jotter will be sent out in the coming weeks - we are just waiting for a few more jotters arriving.
