Reception

This term the children will have a focus on finding solutions to support us in regulating our emotions independently. 

Later on in the term, we will begin to describe how we can work together with our peers more effectively. 

We will continue to take part in daily zones of regulation circle time activities with our class teddy 'Raspberry' to support the children in their personal, social and emotional development.

This term we will be listening to and retelling our core text and favourite five stories. We will be learning new vocabulary such as; Community, Family, Celebration, Special. 

During our daily Little Wandle phonic sessions we will be learning the Phase 2 phonemes:

ff, ll, ss, j, v, w, x, y, z, qu, ch, sh, th, ng, nk.  

and reading the tricky words:

is, as, the, put, pull, full, I, his, has hers, and.

Each week we will bring home a reading book linked to our phonic sessions and a story book to share with you to help develop a love of reading.

In Autumn 2 the children will begin to explore more than and less than in greater depth. As the term develops, the children will have more of a focus on addition and subtraction.

The children will have more opportunities to use the part whole model as well as beginning to write simple number sentences using the correct symbols +, -, =

Through our core text 'Lima's Red Hot Chili' The children will have opportunities to create different habitats using art techniques such as layering, to create different effects. 

We will also have opportunities to use our imagination, creativity and self expression as we explore colour mixing, textiles, song and dance. 

We will develop an understanding of cultures from around the world. The children will explore a variety of countries and traditions, sharing things from their culutral backgrounds with their peers.
