Our Autumn term topic in Nursery is 'We are Family. Through rhyme, songs and art we will be exploring who we are, and be able talk about who is their family. also how families are different. Also how different cultures celebrate and what foods they eat.
We will be reading our 'Favourite Five' books and using these to talk about what we know and have experienced.

We will be talking about our identity, our likes and dislikes and using talk to describe ourselves and others.
We will be exploring our Nursery provision both inside and out and will embedded in our daily routines.
We will learn how to collaborate with our friends and how we can work as a team to tidy up, play with and share our equipment.
We will be learning to identify how our friends are feeling (e.g. happy, sad, worried etc.) and how we can show that we are a good friend. We will also learn how our own actions effect others and identify how people are feeling.
We will be developing our gross and fine motor skills within all aspects of the provision. We will be developing our gross motor through climbing on the apparatus and using alternate feet. Using large-muscle movements to wave flags and streamers.
We will be talking about our families and children will learn to recognise that some families are the same and some are different. We will also learn that families celebrate in different ways.
Through the stories, 'Stick Man' and 'And Tango makes Three' children will learn to recall parts of a story and act out parts of a story.
This half term, we will continue to develop our understanding of numbers to 5 through looking at number patterns and comparing quantities. We will also consolidate our recognition of numbers 1-5. We will be using mathematical language to describe height and weight and capacity. Identifying shapes in our environment and naming 2D shapes.
We will be using mirrors and photographs to look at ourselves carefully. We will talk about the features we can see and will then create family portraits using a range of materials such as pens, paints and collage and natural resources. We will also explore colour mixing .
We will continue to develop children's understanding through the world around us by;
noticing detailed features of objects in their environment
talking about some of the things they have observed such as plants, animals, natural and found objects.
