“Trust the next chapter because you are the author"
Dear Parents/Carers,
Year 6 have had a fantastic week at PGL! The photos on Twitter demonstrated the range of activities the children participated in and the fun they have had. Thank you to all the staff who attended the trip and for supporting the children whilst they have been away. We really appreciate your care and kindness.
On Monday morning, Year 1 demonstrated teamwork and collaboration in their PE lesson where they were balancing on mats and making shapes with their bodies. In the afternoon, Year 3 conducted a science investigation about different rocks to identify whether they are permeable or impermeable. The children enjoyed making predictions and using scientific vocabulary when writing about their experiment.
Year R have really immersed themselves in our creative activities this week. The children have been on a nature hunt and even selected items to make a crown as part of their learning. In their geography lesson, Year 5 were learning about natural disasters. The children used chromebooks to research about a variety of natural disasters before debating which disaster is the worst!
Well done to all of our children who were Stars of the Week, Times Table Rockstars and Spelling Shed winners this week! The children stood at the front of the hall with beaming smiles on their faces on Wednesday morning, feeling extremely proud of their achievements.
On Thursday, Year 2 were exploring number lines in their maths lesson. The children were looking at a range of number lines that were divided into different intervals of 1, 2, 5 and 10. As part of their RSHE lesson, Year 4 were reflecting on behaviours and the impact that they have on others. The children did this through reading a range of scenarios and participating in discussions about how they would deal with them.
On Friday, Year 6 at PGL were fearless when completing their orienteering activity and Jacob's Ladder. The children were so kind and compassionate to one another, cheering eachother on and giving one another support. Well done Year 6! In addition to this, the Year 6 children who remained at school this week enjoyed a film as they have supported many children, yeargroups and staff this week. Thank you to all of you!
Finally, we want to say a huge thank you to Mr Levey for our amazing new hopscotch and other playground markings which will encourage positive and engaging play at breaktimes and lunchtimes.
We hope you have a lovely weekend,
Miss Capes, Mrs Jackson and the Maundene Team
