Maundene Weekly
________________________
Dear Parents/Carers,
On Monday, the sun was shining and Year 1 made the most of this and continued their PE learning on the school field. They applied their catching and throwing skills in a game of rounders - good fun was had by all! Year 6 focussed on running at speed while changing direction in PE when they were practising the hurdles. All the children tried really hard and were determined to improve throughout the lesson. Resilience at its finest!
On Tuesday, the school band continued with their Rock Steady lessons and all children involved are busy preparing for the next parent show in July. Further details will follow shortly in regards to this. Year R spent time perfecting their balance bike skills or exploring the woodlands during forest school. These are two great activities that we are able to offer the pupils and they gain so much from them. Miss Capes also received a written letter from pupils in Year R asking for some new baby dolls to play with - watch this space year R as new ones have been ordered and will soon arrive in the post!
Wednesday morning started with Year 5 heading off at 8.30 for their weekly swimming lesson and the rest of the school celebrating the Stars of the Week in our weekly assembly. Well done to everyone for earning their certificates this week. Year 3 made the most of the sunshine and went outside to read and share their books with each other on the school field.
On Thursday, Year 4 were working hard on their times tables knowledge in preparation for their times table tests in June - resilience and determination was shown by all children and the progress they have made since the beginning of the year is amazing. Year 5 have been busy looking at the features of websites in preparation for designing their own websites on Google Sites. We look forward to seeing their final websites when they have been completed.
Friday started with Blackbirds showcasing their learning during their class assembly - thank you to all parents and carers who attended in the wet and cold weather. In art, Year 3 have been practising their sketching skills and techniques. They sketched famous London landmarks taking inspiration from our key artist m Clare Haxby.
Wishing you all a lovely bank holiday weekend and see you all on Tuesday.
Miss Capes, Mrs Jackson and the Maundene Team
