Maundene Weekly
________________________
Dear Parents/Carers,
On Tuesday, we were so lucky to have such beautiful weather for our KS1 and KS2 sports days! It was lovely to see many parents and carers attend to support the children and a fun time was had by all. All children participated in a carousel of activities before competing in running races. The children's behaviour was amazing and it was so lovely to see them cheering and supporting each other, particularly during the running races. Well done to Year R, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6!
Wednesday saw us welcoming the new Doves children in for their second stay and play session - this time without their parents and carers staying! They all settled really well and had an amazing session with their new teacher and TA. Mrs Rattle led our celebration assembly to present certificates to our wonderful Stars of the Week! Well done everyone.
On Thursday, our new Kingfishers arrived for the second stay and play session, where it was also lovely to see Mrs Read pop back in as she wanted to meet her new children before September. They enjoyed time out in the sun and getting to know their new adults and friends ready for September. We were also greeted by Year 3 arriving in their Egyptian outfits for the day to continue their history learning journey and participate in a range of practical activities including making bread.
Friday started with the sharing of Ravens class assembly about their learning this year and we thank all of you for taking the time to attend this event - the children really do appreciate this. We also had our first Meet the Teacher with the Year 6 team and this was also a chance to find out about their upcoming visit to PGL, which we know they are very excited about!
This term is flying by and we cannot believe that there are only 3 weeks left until the summer holidays! Still so much to pack in and we look forward to key events such as the Year 6 play, the Year 6 Prom and the Year 6 leavers assembly...as well as many other events happening in different year groups.
Wishing you all a lovely, restful weekend.
Miss Capes, Mrs Jackson and the Maundene Team

Key Messages
Meet The Teacher Meetings
You will see in the diary below the planned 'Meet the Teacher' meetings - these will be in the KS2 hall and will be a chance to have a brief presentation about your child's new teachers and year group. Children are welcome to attend but must be sitting with their adults and not running round or left on the playground. Please be aware that this is not a time to discuss your child on a one-to-one basis, if needed this will happen in September.
General Election
We are sure you have heard in the news that the Prime Minister has announced Thursday 4th July 2024 as the next General Election and Maundene have once again been selected to be a polling station on this day. As explained before, we have no choice over this matter and Medway have looked at possible alternative venues but none of these have been suitable. The last election day for the Police Commissioner Election was safe and successful for the school and meant we could remain open. However, due to the scale of a General Election, and with a greater number of people entering the school premises, we have decided that we will close on this day. We understand that not everyone will agree with this decision, but like last time, this decision has not been taken lightly. We will add activities onto google classrooms for you to access on the day if you wish. Thank you for your support and understanding in this matter.
