"What you do today can improve all your tomorrows."

Dear Parents/Carers,

We hope you have had a wonderful week.

On Monday, Year 1 were practicing giving clear instructions and following instructions to help them build a tower in pairs and groups. The children worked collabortively and supported one another by giving praise where necessary. In the afternoon, Year R went on a shape hunt and the children identified the names of specific 2D shapes. The children then looked for 2D shapes within the EYFS environment. During their science lesson, Year 3 were discovering the names of all the bones in the human body. The children then put their new knowledge to the test with a game of 'Miss Pomphrey or Mrs McClelland says". It was wonderful to see the children having so much fun and applying their science learning to a game.

Mr White led a Dodgeball Roadshow with Year 3-6 children throughout the day on Tuesday. The children absolutely loved their Dodgeball session and as a result of this, more children have signed up to Mr White's after school session on a Tuesday. We are hoping to secure further after-school sessions with Mr White as we know there is now a waiting list! In the afternoon on Tuesday, Year 6 had Mrs Bansil visit during their RE lesson to talk to them about Sikhism. The children loved asking a range of questions and learning even more about the Religion.

Wednesday morning started with Celebration Assembly. Our favourite assembly of the week on Wednesday celebrated more achievements - Stars of the Week, Timestable Rockstars and Spellers of the Week. Well done everyone, you should feel very proud of yourself for your hard work this week! In addition to this, Year 2 had their trip to Sea Life in London. The children absolutely loved their trip and were able to see many underwater animals which related to their English core text, Rainbow Fish.

During their English lesson, Year 4 wrote a recount about their daily life applying their use of fronted adverbials. The children reminded one another to use commas after their fronted adverbial! In their maths lesson on Thursday, Year 5 were identifying and using square numbers. The children explained what a square number is, used patterns to identify square numbers and then applied knowledge of square numbers to solve a range of problems.

We hope you have a fabulous weekend,

Miss Capes, Mrs Jackson and the Maundene Team
