Dear Parents and Carers,
A very warm welcome back to school for the start of the spring term! We hope you all had a restful and enjoyable break.
We are incredibly excited for the term ahead, filled with engaging learning opportunities, exciting events, and the chance to see our students continue to grow and flourish. We are particularly looking forward to our global curriculum projects this term
We are confident that this term will be a productive and enjoyable one for everyone. Thank you for your continued support.
Breakfast for all
We have started a few new initiatives that we wanted to share. From Monday, all children will have the opportunity to have some toast when they come into school in the morning. This is supplied by the Greggs foundation.
New lunch menu
The children have shared their feedback with the kitchen staff and the menu has been updated. They have also updated some of their cooking techniques to take into account of the children's feedback. We are pleased to share that the children are enjoying their lunch following this intervention.
Always good (Hot Chocolate Friday)
To recognise the children that are always good, we have started Hot Chocolate Friday! The teacher will choose two children per class to join Miss Bansil for a hot chocolate. The children will receive a certificate to acknowledge that they have been selected for showing wonderful behaviour in school
Parent Survey
We value your input and believe that your voice is essential in helping us create the best possible learning environment for our pupils. We are excited to announce that our parent survey is now available!
This survey provides a valuable opportunity for you to share your thoughts and feedback on your child's experience at Elaine. Your honest opinions will help us understand what we're doing well and identify areas where we can improve. We encourage you to take a few minutes to complete the survey and share your perspective.
Your feedback is incredibly important to us. It helps us make informed decisions about school programs, resources, and initiatives that directly impact your children's education. We want to hear from you – your voice truly matters!
You can access the survey through the following link: Survey link
Alternatively, you can scan the QR code below with your smartphone or tablet (see above)
The survey will be open until Monday 3rd March 5pm. All responses will be kept confidential and used to help us better serve our pupils and families.
Thank you for your time and participation. We appreciate your partnership in ensuring a successful and enriching educational experience for all our students.
School Playgroup Equipment fund raising
We're reaching out to share an inspiring story and to invite you to participate! Bob Vincent, a deeply valued member of our school community with a connection spanning nearly four decades, is undertaking a fundraising walk from Sittingbourne to Elaine Primary School on March 5th. His goal? To raise vital funds for much-needed playground equipment for our children.
Bob's dedication to our school and the wider community is truly remarkable. As a veteran and Chairman of the Rochester and Strood branch of the Royal British Legion, he has a long history of charitable work. Now, he's focusing his efforts on benefiting our children, emphasising that "every contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference."
We need you! Let's rally behind Bob and show him our support. You can contribute to this wonderful cause by donating through his GoFundMe page: https://gofund.me/3b41fa6b.
And that's not all! Your dedicated PTA is also contributing to this important initiative. We are working alongside Bob to ensure that the funds raised directly benefit our children and enhance their outdoor learning and play experience.
Together, we can make a real difference to the lives of our children. Thank you for your support!
New small equipment
We will be launching our new play equipment on Monday. The children are looking forward to this.
Hamster
Pietra our new Hamster has settled in the Elaine Family well. She has had many visitors this week and is looking forward to spending time with everyone,
Here are some quotes from the children. "Pietra is kind and fluffy. He is friendly and loves cuddles with me".
" I think Pietra is so cute and is a wonderful addition to Elaine. I love having cuddles with her in the DEN".

This month's learning...
This half term we have been working very hard on our sentence writing! We have been writing character descriptions, speech & thought bubbles and have enjoyed learning how to use adjectives to better our writing.
This half term we have been exploring numbers 6-10. The children have used numicon, cubes, counters and tens frames to identify which numbers add together to make 8. They have then tried to independently problem solve using these number bonds.
This month in R.E, we learned about Hinduism and enjoyed our school trip to the Mandir. We learnt more about Diwali, aarti and played some lovely instruments.
This month in RHE, we have been discussing kind and unkind behaviours and what they look like in school and outside.
This month Van Gogh have begun learning about multiplication and division through grouping. They have done so well with this, and continued to show excellent behaviour. This even earned them their blue ticket treat of a movie afternoon!
The children in Gill enjoyed science by using food to show the layers of soil. They really like the worms!
The children in Indiana have enjoyed using manipulatives to help them understand division with exchanges.
The children in year 3/4 visited the church as part of their RE lessons based on the topic Christianity. The children enjoyed learning about Christians worship and also they joined in singing.
In English, Banksy class enjoyed making hurricanes in a bowl and bottle. We worked collaboratively to follow instructions.
In maths, we have been exploring area and perimeter.
In PE, Team Wiltshire are enjoying their new unit on gymnastics. We had to incorporate shapes, balances and travelling to create a short sequence. We worked hard to perform with poise and control using our core strength. We are looking forward to developing our routines in the coming weeks, using feedback from our friends.
In Curriculum we created posters around the 'dangers of climate change'. We focused on what it is, why its dangerous and what we can do to help! We can not wait to use these for our climate change project soon!
This week in Picasso pupils have been finishing off their narrative writing as well as completing their sequencing tasks ready for presentation
Friday 28th March: Subject: Non-Uniform Day & Easter Egg Donation - Friday 28th March
We are excited to announce that we will be holding a non-uniform day on Friday 28th March.
On this day, we kindly ask that children come to school in their own clothes and bring in a donation of an Easter egg. These Easter eggs will be collected and donated to our local community, helping us to share a little joy this Easter.
This initiative allows us to demonstrate our school value of "Love" by extending kindness and support to those around us.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us foster a caring and compassionate community.

School Uniform
It is great to see the children looking smart in their school uniforms. Just a reminder that all shoes should be black, earrings need to be studs only and hair bands should be small and in school colours.
Please see the link to the uniform policy:

Healthy School
As a school, we promote healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle. Snacks should be fruit only. Water should be sent in children's bottles and children may have squash/juice at lunchtime only. Children will not be allowed to drink squash during lessons.
As we have children with allergies at Elaine, we are a nut free school so please consider this when packing your child a packed lunch.
