Elaine Primary School is part of the Inspire Partnership Trust
Friday 23rd May 2025
What a whirlwind of a half term it's been! Though short, so much has been happening in school, and we're incredibly proud of all our pupils.
A huge well done to our Year 6 pupils who have tackled their SATs with fantastic effort. They're now looking forward to their final few weeks at primary school – we know they'll make the most of every moment! When we return after the half term break, Year 1 will be completing their phonics test and Year 4 will be taking their multiplication check. We wish them all the very best!
This week, we were delighted to host headteachers from across the partnership, including some familiar faces you might remember: Mr. Atwal, Mrs. North, Mr. Owen, and Mr. Brewer. They all commented on how wonderful our school is. They specifically highlighted the calm atmosphere, excellent behaviour, amazing learning environment, and the great lessons happening across the school. We are incredibly proud of our pupils and staff for creating such a positive and thriving school community.
Finally, we wanted to let you know that at the end of this academic year, on Friday, 18th July =, school will close at 2 pm. This is something we'll be doing at Christmas, Easter, and for the summer term going forward, so please make a note in your diary. In Summer 2, we're really looking forward to sharing our transition plans with you all, where your child will find out about their new class teacher and classroom. We'll be ensuring there's plenty of time for a smooth transition.
As always, if you have any concerns, please don't hesitate to contact the school office. Our senior leaders and pastoral lead are always happy to meet with you and offer support.
Have a wonderful half term, and we'll see you back at school on Monday, June 2nd!
School Photographer is in on 3rd June.
On Tuesday 3rd June 2025, Braiswick Photographic will be coming into school to take class photographs. Their class photo will be available for you to buy.
Please note, children who are on our ‘no photo list’ will not be part of the school photos. However, if you would like your child to be included in the photo, despite being on the no photo list, please can you email the school office giving your permission.
Please make sure that your child wears correct school uniform on the day including their tie, white shirt/top and purple sweatshirt or cardigan.

This month's learning...
In English we have been learning all about animals, different habitats and what certain animals need to survive. We made posters to raise awarness and tell others how they can protect endangered animals!
This half term in Maths we have been exploring doubling and halving. The children have been using cubes to show how to double and then independently writing their own number sentences. We have also begun to count up in 2s to 10 and recognise the difference between odd and even numbers.
In DT, we have been learning about the Olympics! We looked at different poses that athletes perform. We had fun making our own sculptures using play dough and pipe cleaners to create an athletes pose.
In Science we have been learning how to grow plants. What they need to survive and how different environments can change their growth.
This term we have made excellent progress in our science, planting our own cabbages and radishes. We also had a really fun pizza day, where we got to make our own pizzas from scratch and add delicious toppings.
Gill class were really engaged with exploring atlas' when learning about the Roman Empire and what countries were invaded by them. They were shocked to learn that the Romans built the original Rochester bridge in 43AD.
Indiana class loved exploring with magnets. They tested different materials to see which ones were magnetic. They discovered that not all metals were magnetic - which surprised them! They also tried to see what was the longest magnet chain they could make.
Warhol Class has enjoyed learning to tell the time in a fun and engaging way. The children were excited to take part in activities that helped them understand how to read both half past and quarter to. Their enthusiasm and participation made it an interesting lesson.
In Science, we have been exploring reversible and irreversible changes. We carried out a variety of experiments including dropping Mentos into coke and water and changing water into ice, and back into water.
In Team Wiltshire, we have thoroughly enjoyed connecting our learning in art with themes from our story writing. Inspired by the style of the artist Noma Bar, we have worked hard to portray key values such as peace, harmony and kindness.
In Art, we have been learning about Noma Bar. Noma Bar, born in 1973 is a graphic designer and illustrator. He loves telling visual stories using positive and negative light. This is the start of our mood boards to represent his art work!
This term in Science, Picasso class has been investigating different forces. They have looked and pushing and pulling, friction and also magnetic forces. They carried out experiments testing different surfaces for grip and friction and also have used magentic forcers to create movement

School Improvement - Our Priorities
Our priorities this year are as follows:
Assessment to drive progress and outcomes
Ensure assessment is rigorous and robust so that all children make accelerated progress, and all outcomes exceed national expectations.
Feedback at all levels
Promote and embed a culture of ‘everyone a learner,’ where feedback is shared at all levels to create a culture for coaching, personal growth and excellence.
Inclusive practice to ensure success for all
Adaptive teaching is personalised to meet the needs of all learners, so all pupils have opportunities to experience success across the curriculum.
Oracy
Establish children’s oracy to support their social development through performance, cultural capital and vocabulary development.
Writing
Enhance the quality of writing outcomes by developing the teaching and learning of grammar, punctuation and spelling. Create a culture of teaching and developing a rich and varied vocabulary for all pupils across the school.
School Uniform
It is great to see the children looking smart in their school uniforms. Just a reminder that all shoes should be black, earrings need to be studs only and hair bands should be small and in school colours.
Please see the link to the uniform policy:

Sports clubs have now started and our first tournaments, tri golf and hockey are coming up this half term. Please speak to Miss Macklin, our PE coordinator, if you have any questions about PE or sports clubs.
All children can come to school in PE kit on their PE day. This must be Elaine PE kit.
Healthy School
As a school, we promote healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle. Snacks should be fruit only. Water should be sent in children's bottles and children may have squash/juice at lunchtime only. Children will not be allowed to drink squash during lessons.
As we have children with allergies at Elaine, we are a nut free school so please consider this when packing your child a packed lunch.
