Elaine Primary School is part of the Inspire Partnership Trust
Friday 27th June 2025
Dear Parents,
The absolute highlight of our week here at Elaine Primary School was undoubtedly the incredibly exciting visit we had on Tuesday from the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves MP, and her team!
The purpose of their visit was to raise awareness about the Government's extension of eligibility for free school meals. It was a truly memorable day for our students. The Chancellor even took the time to let them interview her, and she personally served some of our pupils their school lunch before sitting down to eat with them. Imagine that!
We were so pleased to welcome her. We're always working hard to build connections with important figures like policymakers. This helps us ensure our pupils get the very best opportunities, and it also allows us to share the great things happening at our school so other schools across the country can benefit.
You might be wondering why you didn't hear about this sooner. When the Chancellor’s team first contacted us, we were under strict security protocols. This meant we weren't allowed to share any information about the visit before or during her time at the school. Believe us, if we hadn't been given these instructions, we would have told you as soon as the visit was confirmed!
The good news is that the visit led to news coverage on Tuesday night, including regional BBC broadcast news. We're incredibly proud of how well our school came across!
We'll always do our best to keep you informed about important developments as soon as they happen or, as in this case, as soon as we're allowed to share the news.

This month's learning...
During DT week, Mondrian class loved exploring Italian cuisine, our favourite part was making our own pizzas! We spread on the tomato sauce, sprinkled the cheese and chose our own toppings - they were delicious!
During DT week, Matisse class loved learning about pizzas. We explored Italian cuisine, created a recipe to make our own pizzas and even made our own! We spread on the tomato, sprinkled the cheese and chose our own toppings- they were so yummy!
During DT week, O'Keeffe class enjoyed retelling the instructions on how to make guacamole using time adverbs and actions.
In Monet class, we had an amazing DT week where we learnt how to make guacamole. We explored our senses by trying the different ingredients separately and once it was made we found it delicious!
The children in Gill have loved exploring plants as part of our science topic this term. They have learnt about the function of roots, leaves and flowers on a plant.
Indiana have had a great time learning about seeds in science and taking part in cooking week where they made French Pastry Fruit Tarts.
In science lessons Warhol has been learning about seeds. The children were given the opportunity to set their seeds and observed the process of germination.
We have really enjoyed DT week where we researched, planned, designed and made French baguettes. We worked collaboratively to make the dough and then shaped the dough into individual baguettes.
In Team Wiltshire, we are thoroughly enjoying a busy final term in our Elaine journey. As part of DT week, we had so much fun making our very own French baguettes; they were so tasty! We have been inspired by William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet to write some super story openings. In art, we relished the challenge of designing our own masks for the masquerade ball using Purple Mash.
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Leeds castle, where we were able to experience what it was like attending school in the Victorian Days. We dressed up and were taught in Victorian style!
Picasso Class had a fantastic time exploring German culture and food. They learned about traditional German festivals, music, and famous landmarks like the Brandenburg Gate. The highlight was tasting delicious German foods such as pretzels, bratwurst, and German meatballs. Everyone enjoyed trying new things and discovering how people live in Germany. It was a fun and tasty adventure!
Our Whole School attendance this week is:
School Improvement - Our Priorities
Our priorities this year are as follows:
Culture of Reading
Embed positive reading habits across the school, leading to demonstrable positive impact on reading attainment for all pupils.
Maths Mastery
Embed a deep and secure understanding of mathematical concepts and problem-solving strategies across all year groups, leading to at least 70% exp+ in Maths for every year group
Strengthening Attendance
Strengthen attendance processes and procedures to ensure that Elaine Primary School achieves national measures for whole-school attendance and significantly
reduces persistent absence.
Community Engagement
Strengthen community engagement through greater participation of parents and carers in school life, fostering a collaborative and supportive learning environment.
Pupil Leadership
To empower pupils to play a greater and more impactful role in the life of the school, fostering a culture of active citizenship and shared responsibility.
School Uniform
It is great to see the children looking smart in their school uniforms. Just a reminder that all shoes should be black, earrings need to be studs only and hair bands should be small and in school colours.
Please see the link to the uniform policy:

Sports clubs have now started and our first tournaments, tri golf and hockey are coming up this half term. Please speak to Miss Macklin, our PE coordinator, if you have any questions about PE or sports clubs.
All children can come to school in PE kit on their PE day. This must be Elaine PE kit.
Healthy School
As a school, we promote healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle. Snacks should be fruit only. Water should be sent in children's bottles and children may have squash/juice at lunchtime only. Children will not be allowed to drink squash during lessons.
As we have children with allergies at Elaine, we are a nut free school so please consider this when packing your child a packed lunch.
