This month's learning...
In English, Mondrian enjoyed using their new found knowledge, imagination and getting creative in English to design their own book cover for a recipe book. They made sure to use an eye catching picture, title & author.
Last week, we paid a Christmas visit to the Church! We dressed up and acted out the story of the Nativity, made Christmas cards, learned all about the origin of Christmas and we sang and signed a song! We had such a fun morning.
O'Keeffe class had a blast singing and acting for the Year 1/2 Nativity at St.Francis Church. We hope you all enjoyed it as much as us!
Monet class enjoyed a craft afternoon with parents making Christmas tree decorations.
Van Gogh have enjoyed using manipulatives in maths to support their learning. We have had lots of Christmas fun this term.
Gill class really enjoyed our grownups joining us for our festive crafts afternoon. The adults equally enjoyed themselves!
Year 3 and 4 have enjoyed their visits to the library this month. They loved joining in with the story and looking around exploring the different books.
In Warhol class the children had a fun time when they used counters to work out their twelve times table.
In Maths this term, We have been deepening our understanding of multiplication and division. We started by multiplying a 2-digit number by a 2-digit number before moving on to multiplying a 4-digit number by a 2-digit number. In Science, we have been exploring the topic of electricity. We built different circuits, and enjoyed making parallel circuits. In English, we wrote a balanced argument and then performed it to the class.
In art this term, Team Wiltshire have thoroughly enjoyed exploring the work of Bisa Butler. She is an American artist who is famous for creating quilted portraits using vibrant colours and geometric patterns. We are incredibly proud of our final pieces, which are on display within our classroom.
Sherald spent an afternoon making Christingles at St Francis Church. They had an amazing time also singing songs, testing their knowledge of Christianity and winning prizes!
This week Picasso class had our craft afternoon.
Parents and carers came in to help the pupils make Christmas themed crafts and marshmallow snowmen

School Uniform
It is great to see the children looking smart in their school uniforms. Just a reminder that all shoes should be black, earrings need to be studs only and hair bands should be small and in school colours.
Please see the link to the uniform policy:

Sports clubs have now started and our first tournaments, tri golf and hockey are coming up this half term. Please speak to Miss Macklin, our PE coordinator, if you have any questions about PE or sports clubs.
All children can come to school in PE kit on their PE day. This must be Elaine PE kit.
Healthy School
As a school, we promote healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle. Snacks should be fruit only. Water should be sent in children's bottles and children may have squash/juice at lunchtime only. Children will not be allowed to drink squash during lessons.
As we have children with allergies at Elaine, we are a nut free school so please consider this when packing your child a packed lunch.
