RECYCLING MAKES THE WORLD GO ROUND

2022-2024

Our school is proud to announce that we will be taking part in a cooperative european project that will take our students and teachers to different countries all over Europe.

Our project is called "Recycling makes the world go round" and will imply a cooperative work between Spain, Portugal, Germany, Romania and France. It will focus on the importance of recycling as a key element to change our society and will help to raise awareness regarding this issue.

It also implies the mobility of teachers and students to the member countries to work cooperatively on our project and create a cooperative network for future projects.

The schedule of mobilities is the following:

We will be posting here all the info of our mobilities and our project to keep you updated.

Have a look below at all the mobilities so far.

Our first mobility has taken place in November and we have travelled to Campulung, in Romania. The school Dinicu Golescu has welcomed us and has given us a taste of what romanian culture is like.

3 teachers and 5 students have participated in this exchange experience to start working on the project. Students have made presentations on the social and economic benefits of recycling and have participated in different workshops concerning recycling processes in Romania.

Here are the videos that summarize each day of our mobility in Romania.

Monday 8th May, Opening ceremony, school stations and recycling workshops

Today we have welcomed the partners into our school and we have had a busy day. We had an opening ceremony to present the activities for the week. Later, our students have shown them our school though different stations in which they have explained the project and all the activities we develop at our school. Finally, students and teachers have taken part in different recycling workshops to create soap, recreate the logo of the project with recycled paper, creating collecting bags for the plogging activity and a spanish for foreigners workshop.

In the afternoon, we have been welcomed at the Town Hall by the major of Cártama and our students have delighted us with some performances which included singing and dancing.

Tuesday 9th May, sports Day and presentantions on recycling

Today, our Erasmus+ students have had the chance to and  enjoy a day out with the whole school.

We have designed a sports day to promote healthy habits. All of our students have worn a T-shirt specially designed for the occasion with the logo of our project. The money collected from the T-shirts and the activities will be donated to a charity that works on recycling.

The day has started with a walk from the school to the sports center of Cártama. There, students and teachers have competed on our traditional race and have had the opportunity to participate in different sports activities. We have finished our morning with a paella made by the AMPA of the school.

In the afternoon, our Erasmus+ students have made their presentations on recycling and sustainability through the R's of recycling.

Wednesday 10th May, Alhambra and recycling gymkhana in Granada.

Today we have visited La Alhambra. Both teachers and students have been delighted with this trip since they have had the chance to meet first hand one of the wonders of the world and one of the most beautiful places in Andalucia.

After the visit, our students have participated in a Gymkhana through the center of Granada in which they have had to find some monuments and elements of recycling, apart from interviewing English speaking people regarding their recycling habits.

Thursday 11th May, Plogging, computers and games.

Today we have gone to the river to do some plogging. This activity started as a bilingual integrated didactic unit but has been so successful that we have also used for the Erasmus+ project. Ours tudents have been divided into different teams to collect different kinds of waste (plastic, glass, metal, etc...). They have used the bags they created in the first workshoop to collect bottle caps. After collecting all the waste, we have gone to the recycling points of the school and we have sorted it all out.

After that, students have worked on creating promotional digital posters by using the pictures they have taken along the walk.

Finally, they have played some games in a workshop called "recycling history", in which they have played some traditional roman games the way they did.

Friday 12th May, Final workshops and closing ceremony

Today has been our last day. Students have finished the logos they created on the first workshop by using recycled paper. After that, we have had our closing ceremony, in which we have awarded students with their certificates of participation. We have also gifted them some pieces of soap with cake shapes they made on the first workshop. Additionally, we have given a prize to the winners of the gymkhana in Granada.

To finish, we have had a talent show called "Tú si que Valles" in which some Spanish and Erasmus+  students have delighted us with songs and performances and we have enjoyed singing with them.
