The focus of the 7th grade unit is invasive species, a very important topic for preserving our local ecosystems.Â
The TedEd video below is a great introduction to understanding the issues, and it includes review questions that can be done by students directly online.
This presentation was given at the California Native Plant Society's Conservation Conference by entomologist Doug Tallamy to help understand why native plants are important. The sound quality is pretty poor, so not sure if it will be useful or not - sorry about that. Search for Doug Tallamy to find out more...
This kit is not a GEMS kit with a single focus or teacher's guide, but is a collection of different lessons around invasive species which can be used in the classroom.Â
