Schedule Information
ESWP Archeology Dates 2024
Training Day: Friday March 1, 2024 10 am to 5 pm
Location: Meet at ICOE, 166 Grandview Dr
Please bring water, lunch, and clothes to be comfortable in all weather, outside all day. Transportation provided to Fish Slough.
Program Dates:
Wednesday, March 6: Owens Valley and Lone Pine
Thursday, March 7: Round Valley and Big Pine
Tuesday, March 19: Bishop Elementary
Wednesday, March 20: Bishop Elementary
Thursday, March 21: Bishop Elementary
Program Hours: Meet across from the entrance to the Vons gas station at 7:30 am, back by 2:30 pm (depending on how long it takes us to pack up - kids arrive at 9 am and are on the bus to leave by 1:35).

The Obsidian Trail - Archaeologists in the Owens Valley have for thirty years recorded petroglyphs, pottery, and bone, wood, and stone tools, piecing together the lifeways of the region’s original inhabitants. With advances in analysis of obsidian (black volcanic glass), they are re-examining what ancient arrowheads, points and flakes can reveal and are learning some surprising things.
