Hierarchical Organisational Structure
Hierarchical Organisational Structure
A Hierarchical structure involves multiple layers of management, demonstrating the hierarchy of responsibility and authority within the business.
The Hierarchical structure also shows the roles and positions within the business, alongside clear chains of command and lines of communication.
It is a fairly simple organisational structure and is also known as a ‘Tall’ organisational structure, with one person having the overall control of the business at the top of the hierarchy, which is usually supported with multiple layers of management through a ‘top-down’ approach to management.
Within a Hierarchical structure, there is often a long chain of command and managers have a narrow span of control with a moderately small team of employees.
