Registration fee for participants and students includes:

  • Access to all scientific sessions
  • Sunday evening keynote speaker and opening reception (dinner and drinks)
  • Continental breakfast each morning
  • Coffee breaks
  • Lunches on Monday and Tuesday
  • Drinks during poster sessions (beer, wine, soda)

Registration fee for accompanying persons is $115 USD and includes:

  • Sunday evening keynote speaker and opening reception (dinner and drinks)

Optional tidal marsh and beach walk - Saturday afternoon

(not included in registration fee above): $25.00 USD
  • Transportation to/from Francis-Marion Hotel
  • Guided walk from Folly Beach Lighthouse led by Dr. Amy Ringwood

Optional Banquet at the South Carolina Aquarium - Tuesday evening

(not included in registration fee above): $125.00 USD

The banquet will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at the South Carolina Aquarium from 7:00-10:30pm. The aquarium is located directly on Charleston Harbor and is home to more than 10,000 plants and animals. It is approximately a 10-15 minute walk from the Francis-Marion hotel. Please see: for additional information. The optional banquet fee includes:

  • Aquarium admission and private access to aquarium exhibits
  • Open bar (beer, wine, soda)
  • Appetizers
  • Lowcountry-style buffet
  • Guest speakers include Dr. Patricia Fair and Dr. John Stegeman

Hotel Accommodations

Hotel accommodations are provided by the Francis-Marion Hotel, which is also doubling as our host site. The Francis-Marion is ideally situated in downtown Charleston, and is in walking distance to the major attractions. Rooms have been reserved at the Francis-Marion at highly discounted rate through the website below, and will be released after April 19, 2019. Attendees are HIGHLY encouraged to help keep our costs down and book a room at the Francis-Marion.

Standard rooms are $179 USD per night, plus 14% tax during the conference. However, if you would like to guarantee a larger room, you have that option for an additional fee. Accommodations are in either two double-sized beds (up to 4 people) or one king sized bed (up to 2 people).

If there is availability, the hotel will honor the group rate for two nights after the conference. For the three days prior to the conference, the price will be 20% off the best available rate.

Payment of registration fees, accommodation fees and any other applicable charges should be made in U.S. dollars by credit card (VISA, Master Card, American Express, or Discover Card only).


A confirmation email will be sent to each registrant. Hotel reservations are made through the Francis-Marion portal and confirmation directly provided by Francis-Marion. Please be sure to bring the confirmation e-mail when you register at the conference venue and when you check-in at your hotel.

Cancellations and Refunds

All cancellations for the conference and/or banquet must be in writing and sent by e-mail to: . Refunds will be made to the same credit card used for payment, minus the credit card service charge (4%).

After March 2, 2019: 100% of the registration fee


Participants are advised to procure their own travel insurance, as the Organizing Committee will assume no responsibility for personal accidents, sickness, theft or property damage.
