Dear Colleagues,
The Organizing Committee would like to welcome you to the 20th International Symposium on Pollutant Responses in Marine Organisms (PRIMO 20) in Charleston, SC USA. This 20th version of PRIMO is the first in North America since PRIMO 16 in Long Beach. Charleston is a beautiful coastal city in the southeastern United States with an fascinating history. It is also the home of South Carolina’s Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife and Marine Resources Division, College of Charleston's Grice Marine Laboratory, the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency (Office for Coastal Management).
PRIMO aims to provide an interdisciplinary scientific forum for presenting and discussing research on the environmental effects of anthropogenic activities on the health of our oceans and the organisms within. We anticipate that the communication of this research will promote collaboration on a variety of topics, including environmental chemistry, toxicokinetics, molecular toxicology, systems toxicology, computational modeling, and hazard and risk assessment in aquatic organisms, which in turn will provide insights for improving marine and human health.
PRIMO 20 is jointly hosted by Clemson University’s Environmental Toxicology Program, University of South Carolina’s Arnold School of Public Health, Duke University’s Superfund Research Center, North Carolina State’s Toxicology program, and UNC-Charlotte’s Biological Sciences Department.
We look forward to seeing you in Charleston, SC USA.
