TOBACCO-FREE SCHOOLS ACT
All public school districts, including Huron School District, are mandated to comply with Public Act 328 of 1993, the Tobacco-Free Schools Act. This law was enacted to protect children, school employees, and visitors from the dangerous effects of secondhand smoke. This law bans the use of tobacco products at all times in all buildings owned or operated by school districts. Additionally, the law bans the use of tobacco products on school grounds, except during weekends, on holidays and after 6:00 p.m. on school days. This law is to be enforced by local police departments, and infractions carry a fine of $50.00.
