Electronic Devices
The use of any electronic device at any of our Huron Elementary buildings is a privilege. The use of these devices while in school is solely at the discretion of the Huron School District. The use of any electronic device within Huron Elementary School is subject to the HSD Technology Agreement.
Chromebooks:
All students in any Huron Elementary School will be issued a chromebook. This chromebook, along with its charger, are the property of the Huron School District. This device will be considered the same as other school property that is on loan to a student. The device will be checked out to the student and is expected to be returned in the same condition as it was given. Any and all damage to the device and its charger will be the responsibility of the student and their family.
ONLY Huron School District chromebooks are permitted to be used in Huron Elementary Schools
Personal Electronic Devices:
Personal electronic devices are discouraged. Huron Elementary Schools will not be held responsible for any damage to the device when brought to school. Students are permitted to bring their cellular phones, smart watches, and ear buds into any Huron Elementary School. Devices are to be stored in their locker and not to be used during the school day or on the school bus.
If a phone call is necessary, the student needs to go to the office.
Please do not call or text your child during the school day.
Students are not permitted to use their phones during the school day. Phone calls and texts create unwanted classroom distractions. If your child reaches out to you, please encourage them to speak with a staff member about their concern. Huron Elementary School staff can help immediately with an issue, whereas a parent cannot do much from home or work.
In order to respect the privacy of our students personal electronic devices are not permitted in any area of the building (aside from lockers). Devices may not be used to record, transmit, or post photographic images or videos of any child or adult on school property. Electronic devices in any area will be confiscated.
*Students that have taken photographs or videos of themselves or others during the school day will automatically have the device confiscated and a parent/guardian will need to pick up the device from the school office.
