EXPECTATIONS
Students, to the best of their ability, are expected to exhibit the characteristics of a responsible citizen and to respect the rights and property of all that are involved in the educational process. A student should not interfere in the education of his or her fellow students and should avoid any behavior or activity that is disruptive to the learning climate. Students should be prepared to attend school daily and be on time for all classes. They should make every effort to be honest, follow directions, and to complete all courses to the best of their ability. All students are asked to maintain a climate of respect and cleanliness for all school property. They should maintain a high level of respect for all adults and students within the building. The student should move through the building in a quiet and orderly manner. Students are expected to exhibit age appropriate behavior and to support an atmosphere of courtesy and respect while at school.
STUDENT DISCIPLINE
The disciplinary policy of the elementary program maintains that it is the responsibility of the total school community to create and maintain an atmosphere that is conducive to teaching, learning and living. Everyone involved in the educational process has the right to expect that the environment shall be safe, pleasant, and well organized. The climate should produce security and consistency through the establishment of reasonable rules and guidelines that encourage interaction based on cooperation and mutual respect. Students with inappropriate behavior will be disciplined accordingly and on an individual basis.
AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOR
Students are not to have any weapon in their possession or use any object as a weapon on school property. Students exhibiting physical behavior to include, but not limited to, threatening, fighting, bullying, intimidating, or slapping will be subject to immediate disciplinary action including possible school suspension. Students engaging in any written or verbal communication indicating harm to themselves or others will be given a risk assessment and in collaboration with the Huron Twp. Police Department appropriate follow up actions/communications will occur including restorative practices.
