PLAYGROUND SAFETY
Safety on the playground is extremely important; therefore the following rules have been developed to inform students of basic guidelines to be followed when playing in a large group. Parents are encouraged to discuss these rules with their child periodically.
Students are expected to follow the directions of the playground supervisors.
Students may not hang upside down on the monkey bars. The playground supervisors are not trained to supervise gymnastics on the playground, and there is inadequate safety equipment to do gymnastics on the playground.
Children should stay away from the area where swings are moving and/or in use to avoid being hit and injured.
Children are not to jump from moving swings, but should stop the swing and get off safely.
Only one child may be at the top of the slide at a time. Others should wait on the ladder until the child goes down the slide.
Rough play will not be permitted on the playground.
No hard balls, bats, or skateboards are to be used at recess period.
No balls are to be thrown or kicked against the building, or kicked in areas close enough to the buildings to have them land on the roof. The building custodian will remove balls from the roof.
Play in designated areas only. Climbing on or over fences is not permitted.
Students may throw only playground-approved equipment designed to be thrown.
Students wearing flip-flops will need to bring a change of shoes for outdoor recess and gym participation.
