Module 1
In our cross phase science lessons, we are starting to look at classification systems to understand how all living things are classified. We have started to look at and use branching tree diagrams.
N.C describe how living things are classified into broad groups according to common observable characteristics and based on similarities and differences, including micro-organisms, plants and animals
give reasons for classifying plants and animals based on specific characteristics.
We have also been investigating bacteria and the conditions needed for growth and written up conclusions as to what we found.

Module 2
In our Science lessons, we are studying circuits and electricity. So far we have looked at circuit symbols and decided whether a circuit will work or not.
NC use recognised symbols when representing a simple circuit in a diagram.
Module 3
Light
We used the properties of objects to investigate their shadows and why shadows of some items can appear differently.
NC: use the idea that light travels in straight lines to explain why shadows have the same shape as the objects that cast them
We looked at how light travels and how the material of an object impacts what we see.
NC: use the idea that light travels in straight lines to explain that objects are seen because they give out or reflect light into the eye
NC: explain that we see things because light travels from light sources to our eyes or from light sources to objects and then to our eyes
We applied our learning from this unit to create periscopes and used our knowledge to explain how the fact that light travels in straight lines allows a pericope to work.
NC: recognise that light appears to travel in straight lines
Module 4
Animals Including Humans
We begun the unit by undertaking a dissection of the heart, we completed a risk assessment before working collaboratively to identify the key parts of the heart.
NC: identify and name the main parts of the human circulatory system, and describe the functions of the heart, blood vessels and blood.
Following on from this lesson, we then looked at the impact of diet, drugs and exercised on the body with a focus on the impact of exercise before looking at the types of food and what it contains.
NC: recognise the impact of diet, exercise, drugs and lifestyle on the way their bodies function
