Now that your Stripe account is set up, it’s time for you to start earning!
As you probably know by now, HUM is the ride services app that empowers HUM drivers to build personal, recurring client relationships with trusted riders. By offering direct, flexible, and personalized services, drivers gain a more steady income stream while maintaining more independence as drivers and business owners. We ensure all Private Rides, started and finished in the app, are covered by HUM’s insurance, providing peace of mind for driver and rider.
Has a passenger ever asked you, “Hey, can you come pick me up after we finish dinner?” or, “pick me up, once the concert’s over?” With Private Rides, you can finally say “YES!”.
Drivers are responsible for collecting Private Ride fares as these payments are currently handled outside of the app. This means, you and your passenger(s) are responsible for agreeing upon payment method. We suggest that you set up your device to accept payment cards (tap or swipe) with a service such as SQUARE, CLOVER, National Bank Card, CPOS or Intuit/Quickbooks. In the case of a payment card decline, we suggest that you have a backup using any or all of the cash apps ( Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, etc.).
New drivers can receive marketing materials from HUM, including Personalized Business Cards, $5-off Promo Cards, Vehicle Decals, and Flyers from their local HUM representative. These materials act as wonderful conversation starters and open the door for you to offer your services, should the passenger inquire.
How to Operate:
When you have arrived to your Pickup Location, navigate to the Menu in your HUM Driver App
Select Private Ride (or “Manual Ride”)
Insert Passenger’s Phone Number (or a generic number) and Request Ride
When Success is prompted, select OK
When Customer Request has been Automatically Accepted is prompted, select OK
Select Arrived (if prompted)
Select Start Ride
If prompted with Please Confirm That You Have Your Customer, select OK (cancel will return you to the previous screen)
When you are at your destination, select End Ride
The total fare amount will be displayed at the end of your ride. Please rate your customer and collect your fare.
Notice: There is no Destination auto-inserted in a Private Ride. Passengers can add their destination from his/her HUM Rideshare app, though it’s not necessary. The app will still track using your vehicle classification’s fare rate calculator and GPS. Passengers with the HUM app will be able to view their receipt for HUM’s assessed fare in the Ride History section of their app.
Troubleshooting: If your device continues to ring, the above process may not have been followed. You can log out of the app or restart your phone to begin again. You can also use the back button to clear the ring or conduct a soft close of the app. If issues persist, simply reduce your phone’s volume, take care of your passenger, and then email help@humrideshare.com
Passenger Receipts: HUM does not issue ride receipts to passengers when the driver utilizes the Private Ride feature if the passenger does not have the app. When a passenger has the HUM app, they can view their invoice/receipt in the History section of their app.
It is the driver’s responsibility to issue a receipt if requested by the passenger. We suggest you keep a receipt book (purchase through Amazon) or utilize a payment processor that issues a receipt to the passenger.payor.
We at HUM also have a rideshare model where passengers can request rides through the app in search for a nearby driver, where drivers also receive 100% of fares and tips, making it important to always keep your app on!
Important Note: Without a Stripe account activated through HUM, a driver is unable to receive payment. HUM simply cannot bear the responsibility for the payment of an on-demand ride fare when the driver has not activated a Stripe account through the HUM app.
Tips for On-Demand Rides:
Keep your app on, always!
Requests come on a first-come, first-serve basis
Drivers are not docked for “missing” or “declining” rides
Be sure to check Ride Details before accepting–we don’t want your potential customers getting cancelled on after their ride was accepted
Keep in mind, this may be a passenger’s first time using HUM, which means you can leave a lasting impression–and potentially receive another ride if they enjoyed you!
Not every ride is for right now! Some passengers may request future rides.
Similar to on-demand rides, Pre-Schedued rides are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. All drivers in the area will be notified of the pickup + destination, pickup’s distance from your current location, and will receive a fare estimate with the passenger’s requested date/time.
Once accepted, these rides will sit in your app under Scheduled Rides in your driver app menu.
Please be sure to set a reminder for yourself to arrive at the Scheduled Ride on-time! Keep your app on as you may receive an additional notification while en-route.
If you have to cancel your scheduled ride, please do so at the earliest possible time and it will move to Live Requests (in all driver’s menus) for others to service.
These are valuable! When a driver has to cancel a pre-scheduled ride, the ride will move to Live Requests and become available to all drivers.
