Q. What is the best way to share files with parents and students?
A. It’s best not to assume all of your parents have Google accounts, and it's important to remember Youtube is blocked for our students. When possible use PDF files, and upload your videos to MyVRSpot instead.
Q. How do I share a Google Doc or Slides file with parents?
A. Download your Google file as a PDF by clicking File > Download > PDF Document (.pdf). If you don’t want to send an attachment, upload the PDF to your Google Drive and then get a sharable link (make sure you choose “Anyone with the link” or your recipients won’t have access!). Here’s a video.
Q. Can I share a Google Doc/Slides file with the world but still have the ability to edit?
A. Yes! Click File > Publish to the web > Publish > copy link. You'll share that link instead of an attachment. Here’s a video.
Q. How do I get videos off of my phone or iPad and on to my computer?
A. When a file is too large to email, I usually upload it to my Google Drive using the Google Drive app on my phone. Or, even faster, you can connect your device to your computer using the USB cable, and then navigate to the files on your device using the File Explorer - here's a quick video.
