Credibility refers to the truth of a statement and generally refers to the content.

Reliability looks at the source of the content to determine the trustworthiness of the author.

Here are some questions you can ask to determine the reliability of a source:


  • Who is the author or organization?

  • Are they considered experts in their field?

  • What are their credentials?

  • When did they publish the information?

  • Is the information still relevant?

  • Are they sharing information to inform or to persuade?
