This topic is "The Key" to understanding Chemistry = it will form the foundation of understanding why things react in the way they do - or the way they don't. If you are to continue with Chemistry then this is THE topic to remember and refer back to when you are in Yr 11, 12, and 13.

One of the key scientists in discovering atomic structure was Lord Sir Ernest Rutherford who was born here in NZ and studied at Canterbury University. Its kind of ironic that although NZ is nuclear free, the first person to split an atom and start the "Nuclear Age" was a New Zealander!
