All CAS students are expected to maintain and complete a CAS portfolio as evidence of their engagement with CAS and achievement of the seven CAS learning outcomes on Managebac. Some universities started asking students to submit their CAS Portfolio as a part of their entrance application lately. The portfolio illustrates who you are with your passion and values.

Students must complete a Long Term Plan annually by September. It allows students to investigate possible experiences and match suitable Learning Outcomes. The Long Term Plan must be uploaded in the Aims and Goals section on the CAS page in Managebac for CAS Advisors and Coordinator to review. The plan will be discussed in Initial and Interim meetings. Students should complete this stage and upload the link in the portfolio in the Aims and Goals section of the portfolio before creating new experience posts.
Each experience record must include planning, reflection and evidence of learning. Students should clearly label their writing with the CAS Stage process. They will be reviewed by CAS Advisors regularly, and students are responsible for keeping it up to date. Ensure to check review dates in the timeline page and Mangabac schedule.
Investigation and Preparation are recorded in Description and Goals section of CAS Portfolio on Managebac. Each CAS proposal includes an experience description, experience goal(s), learning goal, and initial action plans for selected learning outcomes. It is suggested that you write each proposal in the suggested order below so it is all immediately apparent to whomever is going through your activities, as well as future audiences, such as in university applications. CAS Advisors will approve your experiences based on the clarity of your goals and actions in this writing. Contact your CAS Advisor when you are ready for approval, and not wait till portfolio submission dates.
The below is recommended structure for Description and Goals section to ensure including the necessarily information for your CAS experience. This structure will also make writing reflections much more straightforward, since you can set them up to link directly back to the goal and outcomes for evidence (along with whatever supporting evidence you have in terms of photos, documents, video etc.)
All reflections and evidence must be kept up to date in Managebac. The Long Term Plan should guide you on how often and what you need to update. Setting up your own regular reflection time is the key to success. Both Grade 11 and 12 have HR and CORE sessions set aside for CAS Portfolio update time as an extra support. See examples of Initial/Interim/Final Reflections in the Examples of Portfolio page.
Students must complete Final Reflection at the end of each experience with specific reflection about the chosen Learning Outcome(s) clearly labelled as Final Reflection. Students notify his/her CAS Advisor when it is completed to properly conclude the experience in writing via email or through Managebac. CAS Advisor will mark the experience “complete” after reviewing the demonstration of learning in the Final Reflection. The examples of Final Reflection is in the Examples of Portfolio page.
It is highly recommended that students set all experience ending at the end of G11 to have the ending date set 2 weeks prior to the final review date to create enough time to write meaningful final reflection.
In case of delay and termination of an experience due to unexpected circumstances, students must add a reflection post describing the situation and possible solutions, although it may not be the perfect solution. It is important that students show resilience and determination in their learning in CAS Programme.
CAS Advisors use comment boxes and flags to communicate with students and CAS Coordinator. After each review key date, CAS Advisors give feedback using the flags to show students’ progress. CAS Coordinator involves parents if students need extra support at home to make progress in participation and recording of CAS experiences.
