Experiences vs projects
Experience: Everything students plan and participate in CAS Programme. It needs to include a CAS strand and a Learning Outcome. CAS Advisor supports (approves, read reflections and completes) students with experiences.
Project: An experience that include a multiple CAS strand, Learning Outcomes of collaboration and global engagement, longer than 1 month and goes through CAS stages. CAS Coordinator supports (approves, read reflections and completes) students with projects.
Supervisor vs Advisor vs Coordinator
Supervisor: Someone who overseas the experience/project itself. This person can be an HIS staff or non HIS staff, and the main role is to support students to achieve their experience/project/learning goals.
CAS Advisors: HR advisor who overseas CAS experience portfolio development. This person maintains communication with students to coach and encourage them drive passion in balanced life style. This person is also responsible in reporting student's progress in CAS Programme.
CAS Coordinator: Someone who guide students to develop their annual plan, plan and manage their project, and coach and encourage them drive passion in balanced life style. This person also coordinate student support with Advisors.
Long term plan vs summary pages
Long Term Plan: Students create annual plan (9 month long) in August and May in G11. This plan helps students to ensure meeting all CAS requirements, and prioritise and manage their experiences.
Summary page: This is in Managebac portfolio. Students will transfer their ideas in Long Term Plan to Managebac portfolio after they complete planning.
Goal setting, LO and actionable strategies
In Long Term Plan, students consider what actions they might take to accomplish their goals in experiences and learning. The clearer the strategy and action plans are, the easier reflection writing would be.
Students creates Long Term Plan with CAS Cordinator. It can be viewed on their portfolio. See more on Long Term Plan page. Create a copy for yourself to work on it.
Only the experiences with clear Description and Goals can be approved by CAS Advisor. The format for the Description and Goals as below.
To approve and complete an experience, change the status of the experience on summary page.
Interim reflection should include narration, emotion, new ideas, progressing questions and progress on Learning Outcome.
Final reflection should include the same points, but comments on overall prgress made during the experience.
Advisors marks CAS portfolios using flag icons each quarter. Portfolios will be locked on student's due date for 2 weeks for Advisors to work on reporting. CAS Coordinator shares information on students' progress in their projects to help Advisors to make the judgement.
Timeline document has expectations for each quarter submissions.
