Frequently Asked Questions

What is different about this unit compared to the rest of the year?

Most of the geometry course lives in Claims 2, 3 & 4: Problem Solving,Communicating Reasoning, and Modeling &Data Analysis, especially Claim 3 - Communicating Reasoning.  This unit marks the first and only time a geometry cluster is included in Claim 1 as a target; whereas in other courses, standard clusters are almost always synonymous with SBAC targets.  Therefore, in addition to engaging heavily with Claim 2 in this unit (Claim 3 too as depth, time permitting), Target O from Claim 1 sheds light on both the topics of instruction and the level of rigor required.

How should this unit be sequenced?

While sequencing may vary, this is the only unit with a Claim 1 Target for SBAC; therefore, emphasis on G-SRT.6-8 might precede the additional California standard of G-SRT.8.1.
