SUMMARY
My capstone project is a quick demo of a song, just the drop. I made good use of the mixing and composition skills I learned in MELE. The main thing for me was to just get something out, and to force myself to show what I can currently do, so I know where to go from here. I made a point to only use one Synth preset for everything but the percussion, and I'm going to continue with that through the final release of the song. One thing I would like to do with this in the future is find a way to emphasize the heavily bitcrushed synth that I show off in the beginning. I can't remember what song I got the idea from, but I really wanted to make that the center of the track. I also want to figure out a better solution for percussion, the current drums sound okay, but I think I have to find a way for the rest of the track to bounce along with the drums for them to feel less static and boring. My next step is going to be completing and fully releasing this track, as well as expanding on things I learned from this project. I might continue with making tracks that follow the same theme of only using one synth for all instruments.
RESOURCES & PERSONNEL
I used FL Studio, my computer at home, as well as some of the headphones I own for mixing and testing how it sounds on different headphones. I also used MELE Studio C to have a listening session and hear how it sounded through speakers, so I could get a good idea of if there was anything I could change.
