CHRISTEL DOM CRUZAT & LA'AKEA GARCIA
SUMMARY
Our capstone project is a podcast called Fan Lounge. I wanted to do a k-pop podcast since that is an industry both Christel and I have an interest in and we both want to work in it. I chose the format of a podcast rather than something else because it has both aspects that Christel and I can contribute to. Christel could do the audio and use her editing skills for the video, and the knowledge she used throughout the MELE program was mixing the audio to the videos to make sure it’s balanced and setting up the mics and a pro tools session to record our voices. I could talk about all things k-pop from being a fan for 10 years, and could comment on things I learned through the MELE program, such as record labels, contract lengths, and buying the rights of previously written songs (the process behind it). I want to get more knowledge across about the k-pop industry. Within the 5 episodes, we talk about some of the main points of the industry that is normally circulated in talks online. With a better insight gained through the MELE program, we wanted to talk about k-pop while explaining some things that might get caught in mistranslation. For example, explaining certain scandals and telling the facts along with our personal opinion on the matter.
