SUMMARY
My capstone project comprises a single, a music video/visualizer, and a website. I developed this idea as a way for me to reconnect with my Filipino roots. I wanted to create a song that people can universally enjoy. Language should not be a barrier when it comes to music. At the same time, this was a chance for me to show my capabilities, and to show who I am. This was also created in dedication to everyone who was with me during my two years in MELE. But most importantly, I dedicate it to my parents and my older sister. The word simula means "beginning" in Tagalog. It meant many different things to me. These people were my beginning, they helped me begin this journey, they remind me of why I began this journey, and they will now be part of a new beginning in my life. A new chapter. As the creative director of my team, I decided to create a “film effect” for each aspect of my project. From the website, song cover, and music video. These were MELE concepts that I’ve always excelled in. As crazy as it sounds, instead of starting with the song, I first started working on the concept, and that is how I came around to writing the whole story of my song. Overall, I want to show people that language has no barriers and that creativity has no limit. You can begin anywhere and anytime, in any way that you want.
