All instructional programs and non-instructional units have defined outcomes. These are either student learning outcomes for instructional courses and programs (CLOs - course learning outcomes, and PLOs - program learning outcomes), or unit outcomes for non-instructional service units. Check with your supervisor to find out the outcomes for your department/unit.
The college engages in an annual assessment process. Assessment is the process of gathering information/data on student learning and services for the purposes of evaluating and improving the learning environment. Assessment plans are based on the program/unit outcomes, and assessment reports are created to describe methods of assessment, results and the use of the results to improve instruction/services.
Locate recent assessment reports and resources on the Assessment Resources webpage.
Program Review is an annual process for the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data and information about instructional programs and curricula. Through a review of student learning outcomes, key program indicators, and other data measures, programs assess their educational effectiveness, and make recommendations to improve the effectiveness of the program and its impact on student learning.
Unit Review is a similar process for making recommendations to improve the effectiveness of support and service units on campus.
Locate recent reviews and resources on the Program and Unit Review webpage.
