Steps to Getting Connected
Step 1 - Computer Set Up
Computer equipment (if applicable to your position) will be coordinated through your unit/department, and will be set up by Computer Services. If you are not assigned a computer for your workstation, check with your department/unit to locate nearby locations where computers can be accessed to check your email and conduct other work-related business.
Step 2 - UH Credentials & MFA (Multi-factor Authentication)
Your University of Hawai‘i Credentials (UH Username and password) is your key to accessing most online UH resources and systems. Create or recover your UH Username/Password.
You may also want to set up MFA (required if you need to access secure sites such as Banner, and for direct deposit for your payroll)
Step 3 - Google Apps
Google Apps is the set of communication and calendaring tools adopted by the University of Hawai‘i System (UH). Use your UH Credentials to sign in to Gmail here. Access the Google Workspace Learning Center to get you started using Chrome Browser, Gmail and Calendar. You may also want to bookmark the GCF LearnFree website that offers a lot of tutorials.
Step 4 - Email Listservs
The college regularly uses various email listservs to distribute campus news and announcements. Check with your department/unit secretary to ensure you have been added to the appropriate email lists.
Step 5 - Mobile Devices
The wireless network at Hawai‘i Community College is equipped with a “wireless pass-through” feature allowing authorized users to register the network hardware address (MAC address) for their laptop, phone, or mobile device. Registration allows you to “pass through” without having to log-in each time you connect to the Internet. The wireless pass-through service is valid for one year, and may be renewed as needed.
In order to register for wireless pass-through you must provide the MAC address for your device(s). If you need help locating your Mac address, you can read this ITS help page for instructions.Once you have the MAC address(es) for your device(s), go to the ITS Wireless Passthrough website to set this service.
Step 6 - Hawai‘i CC Intranet
The Hawai‘i CC Intranet is for Hawai‘i CC employees only and in order to access it, you will need 1) to be on campus, and 2) your UH Credentials. The Hawai‘i CC Intranet provides authorized campus users with access to current information and documents related to the college. In addition, it provides useful links, forms, and resources to help perform your job duties.

Set up your phone and voicemail if applicable.

Step 8 - Media Equipment
Classrooms and conference rooms have media equipment to support instruction and meetings. Most have document and video projectors, and some have video conferencing equipment. For information, support, and training contact Media Services.

Step 9 - Laulima
All faculty and staff have access to Laulima using their UH Credentials. Laulima is the course management system for the University of Hawai‘i. Faculty use Laulima to enhanced classroom teaching and to support total online teaching. Faculty and staff can also use Laulima to support collaborative projects.
To get started using Laulima:

Go through the UH Laulima Support Page for Faculty and Staff
