Road trip across the various cities of eastern Taiwan
First Stop: Hualien
Transportation in eastern Taiwan isn’t as convenient as in the western cities, and the High-Speed Rail doesn’t serve the eastern region. So, we decided to rent a car for the weekend and take a road trip along Taiwan’s east coast. Renting a car made the trip more time efficient and cost effective, especially when we split the transportation expense among everyone.
We left Taipei riday late afternoon so by the time we reached Hualien it was already night so we stopped by a night market before heading to our Airbnb.
Full day ahead of us with many places to go so we got breakfast and headed to Qinxingtan Beach.
Making Our Way Down to Taitung
As we made our way south toward Taitung, we took the scenic coastal route with several pinned locations on our map. Along the way, we stopped at various spots, including lookout points and rice fields. One of my favorite stops was a bridge that connects to a small island where the atmosphere there felt calm and refreshing. And of course, no trip to a new city is complete without a visit to the local night market before heading to our airbnb in Taitung.
Heading Back Up To Taipei
On our way back to Taipei, we took a mountain route, since we had taken the coastal route on our way down to Taitung. Along the way, we stopped at several scenic spots, including (https://maps.app.goo.gl/1oFbwFjti572vYtg7) and (https://maps.app.goo.gl/1Roach6QCG9phVXn8).
