Tainin
We headed to Taipei Main Station early in the morning to redeem our High-Speed Rail tickets, which we had purchased online through a buy one get one free deal. The ride to our destination took about an hour and 40 minutes.
Upon arriving at the station in Tainan, we rented U-Bikes and rode to our hotel, since the bus wait times were longer than the time it would take to bike there.
View of the city from our hotel.
Later, we headed towards the beach where we watched the sunset.
Alishan and Western Most Point of Taiwan
For this trip, we decided to rent a car because commuting back and forth from Tainan to Alishan would have actually been more expensive. Surprisingly, renting a car turned out to be the more cost-effective option. It was definitely worth it, as it saved us a lot of time and allowed us to visit more places along the way.
We woke up really early to hike to this observation deck (https://maps.app.goo.gl/1n2ExSU6tGaz1Vb88), which was about a 40-minute walk uphill. The view from the top was absolutely breathtaking—high above the clouds.
Then we headed to Alishan National Forest Recreation Area, where we wandered around and rode the train that takes you through the forest.
When on the way back to Tainin we stopped by the westernmost point of Taiwan.
