8P6 - Lego Robotics

Using a Lego mechanics kit, I built a trike because I saw a video of an awesome one and wanted to create something similar. I wanted to replicate the design while adding my own modifications to make it unique. This project allowed me to experiment with mechanics and learn how different components work together.

While working on this project, I learned the importance of checking if I had all the necessary resources before starting. Some parts were harder to find than I expected, which made planning ahead even more important. Making sure I had everything I needed helped the project go more smoothly.

Sharing my project on this website connects it to the Global Collaborator standard because I am contributing my ideas to a larger community. By posting my work, I can inspire others and see what they have created too. This allows me to learn from other people and improve my designs.

One challenge I had was figuring out how to mount the batteries. At first, I struggled to find a good way to attach them without messing up the structure. I solved this problem by designing and attaching a trailer, which made it easier to carry the power source.

Given a chance to do this again, I would change how the trike turns. Right now, the turning mechanism doesn’t work as well as I wanted, making it hard to steer. I didn’t have enough time to fully figure it out, but I would improve it if I had more time.

Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers many subjects, including Digital Multimedia, which my project would connect to if I had been able to code it. If coding was part of this project, I could have programmed features to make the trike more interactive. Learning coding would add another useful skill to my engineering knowledge.

My project also relates to careers in Lego master building because I designed a unique trike using Lego mechanics. Building something with moving parts requires creativity, problem-solving, and engineering skills. By making this project, I practiced these skills and gained experience that could be useful in future designs.
