Reflection

• Using Tinker CAD and a 3D printer, I created a shower drain specially designed to stop hair from entering the real drain. I made the drain because my moms hair always clogs the drain. I hated having to reach down and unclog it by hand. My new design has a little handle to grab it.

• During this process, I learned how to add a gap in the print. I also learned how to group my drain parts to itself. I learned how to change the color of my project (I forgot how from the first 3d project in 6th grade).

• The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Global Collaborator because  I am sharing my experience to the world on my website. My project also ties to  Digital citizen because I made a 3D design and put on my website in an appropriate manner.

• A challenge I overcame on this project was breaking it. I broke it while removing the supports. this put a setback on my project, but I glued it back together.

• Given a chance to do this again, I would add a plug. The reason why I would add it is because it would be awesome. Instead of grabbing the other plug and swapping them from no hair to no water I could just push it down and bam. 

• Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing.  My project connects to the engineering design CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in 3D expert.
