This is a short clip of my bookmark after it was done being cut and engraved.
And this is a short clip of my bookmark soon after it had started being made.
For my project I decided I wanted to make a laser cut. I ended making a bookmark. It is a traditional bookmark with the word book and hearts engraved on it.
Planning Questions
For my project I am working alone.
To make my project I will need a laser cutter and Tinkercad.
My goal is to create a bookmark I can use for reading.
My bookmark will be unique because I created a design I like by myself.
My Steps
Day One: Once I settled on using the laser cutter I started to create my list of 25 and answer the planning questions. While doing this I decided to make a bookmark.
Day Two: After I finished my list of 25 and got an idea on day one, I started working in Tinkercad. I finished the design I like I sent the files to Mr. Renner.
Day Three: On day three the bookmark was ready to be cut and engraved. I spent the hour filling out the sentence starters and worked on my website.
Day Four: Today is the day the laser cut finally started. I took pictures of the laser cutter ad waited for it to be done.
Day Five: After the bookmark was finally complete I took pictures and added the finishing parts onto my website.
Sentence Starters
Using a laser cutter and Tinkercad, I created a bookmark because I saw it on my list of 25 and had a book right next to me so it seemed like a good idea.
During this process, I learned how to not only use a lsaer cutter but how to design something usable and pretty.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Computational Thinker because my project involves making a design and seeing how/if it can be made better.
A challenge I overcame on this project was my design. I was able to do it by adding and taking away different things until I liked how it looked.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change how I made the bookmark. The reason why I would change it is because even though I like the bookmark I made it would look a lot better if it had a more to the design.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in prototype design because I am making a prototype to see what can be made better.
