I have never used Microbit before so I spent this week just messing around to see how it works and seeing whats possible.
Planning Questions
I am working by myself.
I will need a Mircobit and access to the microbit website.
For this project I plan on just figuring out how to use microbit
I ended up making an emotion board which is unique because it shows different emotions every time you press a btton.
Days of Microbit
Day One: Todays the day I figured out what I want to do for my project. I spent the rest of the hour watching tutorials and getting help from Mr. Renner. Once the hour was over I finally understood what microbit is and how it worked.
Day Two: On day two I decided to make something with the Microbit. I made a heart first while I was trying to see how it worked and once I figured it out I made different faces. When you press A it shows a face with a smile, when you press B it shows a face with a frown and when you press A+B it shows a duck. Other then that it just shows a neutral face.
Day Three: I came up with a lot of ideas of things you can make with microbit as well as watched tutorials to learn more about it.
Day Four: I spent some time filling out the planning questions and taking pictures of my project.
Using Microbit and the Microbit website, I created an emotion board. When you press certain buttons it shows a certain face to display an emotion, because while I was searching for an idea this was one of the things shown on the Microbit website that I thought was really cool.
During this process, I learned how to code different things with Microbit
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to digital citizen because I used a computer and technology to code the microbit.
A challenge I overcame on this project was learning how to use the microbit. I was able to do it by watching tutorials and following lessons to learn how to code the microbit.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change what I made. The reason why I would change it is because I made something simple give the chance to do this again I would like to make something a little more complicated.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Computer Programming CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in video game designing. I think this because I coded the microbit by using a computer and technology like a computer programmer. The reason my project relates to a video game designer is because I programed a microbit to do something the same way a video game designer.
This is a picture of the codig I used to make my microbit.
This is the finished Microbit.
